Texas State defeated Houston Baptist in a sloppy contest by a score of 20 to 11. Texas State’s defense led the way for this one with five sacks, and only allowed nine points the whole night. The following two points coming off a safety caused by a bad snap. Freshman QB, Bailey Zappe, led the way for the Huskies while throwing for 199 yards. Terrence Peters led all running backs for the Huskies with 51 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown to cap it off in the first quarter. After that it was all Bobcats.

The defense for Texas State clamped down on the Huskies for the remaining 3 quarters. They were led by Mitte, Anyama, Griffin, and Vinson each combining for 5 sacks. The Bobcats were just good enough on offense to scrape by. Williams led the way at QB with 135 yards passing, but did throw an interception on a bobbled pass. Williams also rushed for 43 yards on 13 carries, and found the endzone once. King was the best air threat for the Bobcats amounting to 85 yards on 4 catches. It seems as though Anthony Smith will be the number one running back going forward for the Bobcats. He looked impressive with 71 yards and a touchdown with only 7 carries!
Bobcats look to take on Colorado next Saturday September, 9th at 1pm. The pregame will start right here on KTSW 89.9 at 12:45 p.m.
