The Texas State Bobcats hosted the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns on Friday night and came out with a clean sweep victory. With this win, the Lady Cats clinched the Sun Belt Conference West Division title and the number 2 seed going into the conference tournament.
Texas State and Louisiana went point for point in the first set ending in a 25-22 set victory for the Bobcats. In the second set it was a completely different story. The Bobcats came out aggressive after a 10-10 score and took control of the rest of the set earning a 25-18 set victory. In the third and final set ,the Bobcats went back and forth with the Ragin’ Cajuns until they finally took a 20-17 lead and didn’t look back. They finished the set with a 25-22 set win, giving the Lady Cats the well deserved win on Senior night. Senior Erin Hoppe set a new Sun Belt record with 48 assists in a three set victory. Fellow senior teammate Jaliyah Bolden finished her evening with seven kills and seven digs.
The Bobcats top offensive players of the night were freshman Tyeranee Scott with 12 kills and junior Madison Daigle with another 12 kills. Other notable offensive players were sophomore Amy Pflughaupt with nine kills of her own and sophomore Megan Porter with her nine kills and six digs. The Bobcats finish their regular season at home Sunday against Louisiana Monroe and that game will begin at noon. Come out and support your Lady Bobcats!
