The Float Fest lineup has  dropped. Last year was pretty dope, and Float Fest has been honest about the mess-ups last year, so I think they’re ready to execute plans for a speedy entrance and exit this year. Hopefully they have some new strategies for floating too. Setting aside all irritations from last year I’m going to say this year should be so worth a pass. Big acts on Saturday include Run the Jewels, Bassnectar, Modest Mouse and Lil Wayne.

My only beef with Saturday is that RTJ and Bassnectar are huge Austin City Limits veterans. If you’ve been to ACL for the past three to six years you’ve probably seen both acts, not once but twice. You might have even caught the RTJ set for an ACL episode taping recently. Who knows, maybe you’ve completely missed both sets for other bands? If so, go ahead and get that Saturday pass. Plus, Lil Wayne is the essence of us singing and rapping to explicit songs when we were young, right? Sing and rap your heart out as a grown woman or man now.

On to Sunday! I am a huge Toadies fans. Reigning from Fort Worth, Texas, and with some of the greatest alternative hits from the ’90s, this is a set I can’t miss. I wish I could’ve gone to their gig in Austin last year but this is just more of an incentive to go. Of course, no one wants to miss Snoop, and if you’ve ever missed one of his shows because it was 21 and up, this is your chance! For the remaining two big acts for Sunday night, we have two more ACL veterans. Glass Animals and Tame Impala. Again, some of you have probably caught their sets recently in Austin.

As college students on a budget, I can see where you need to make your festival experience worth every penny. Maybe you need a handful of acts you haven’t seen yet. Maybe this is a dream lineup, regardless if you’ve seen a lot of these artists before. I have a handful of artists I would see hundreds of times. Personally, I would just get the weekend pass, but since I understand an extra day of a festival adds expenses, I would say choose wisely based on past artists you might have seen in Austin.

For some tips on how to float the fest, check out the link here. Now, we wait for an ACL lineup!

Bobcats Beat UT for Their 30th Win in 2018

By Reily Chestnut Assistant Sports Director The Bobcats wanted this one. They were busting for a chance to inflict their wrath on the Longhorns for beating them back on March 21. Good news folks... they got ‘em back. The No. 24 ranked Texas State Bobcats continued their winning streak with a 2-1 victory over the Longhorns. This game had expectations and implications from the beginning. First, the Bobcats were on […]
