With only seven games left on their schedule the Bobcats look to turn around their season. That became more evident while talking with Head Coach Zenarae Antoine and senior guard Toshua Leavitt during practice about the recent struggles of this team but also the mental toughness the team has had over their recent losing stretch.

Coach Antoine got right to it: she believes the team needs consistency.

“Truly if you look at us it has been a lack of consistency from quarter to quarter because the game planning and the teams we play are all different, so just being able to string back to back to back fourth quarters together is going to be important for us,” Antoine said.

However, Coach Antoine was not shy to praise her team, even after their difficult last few games.

“… [No] matter what anyone says, I always see major improvement whether it be within the game or whether it be in practice this team never dies and never quits,” Coach Antoine said.

Furthermore, Leavitt talked about the mindset of this team heading into this week.

“We have not put together a whole four-quarter game in a while, which is why we have been losing. We have to keep having energy and effort for the whole practice and hopefully we see that this weekend,” said Leavitt.

This season has not gone the way the Bobcats planned but Coach Antoine and Leavitt still believe in this team and each other to fight. It is not about the size of the dog in the fight, it is about the size of the fight in the dog. Bring out the underdog masks because the ‘Cats are coming.

Their next game is this Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. You can follow KTSW 89.9 for more details and updates.
