Just hours after a victory against the Liberty Flames, the Bobcats took on the University of Southern California Trojans in an intense fight to keep the momentum going and add on to their last win, however, 14th ranked USC defeated Texas State in four hard-fought sets.

The Bobcats were off to a promising start winning the first set 28-26, with USC fighting hard to catch up to the Bobcats. The energy was intense as the Bobcats struggled to win the first set by two points, keeping the set ongoing.

Trailing behind by 10 points at the end of the second game, the bobcats step up their game coming to a close win in the fourth set being tied 23-23 until little mistakes, like touching the net, gave the opposing team the lead.

Senior Cheyenne Huskey was an all-star player as she hustled to the ball, playing both front and back positions. Huskey was giving it her all coming out with 13 kills overall and sophomore Kenedi Rutherford just trailing behind with 10 kills.

Courtney Heiser made a remarkable impression coming in with 10 kills as a freshman and only in her first year of college volleyball. Heiser said she’s just excited to be here.

“It’s a dream to be out here playing them and against them they’re such an amazing team,” Heiser said. “This was definitely high-level and sets the tone for what we’ll be seeing tomorrow and were really excited for tomorrow.”

The Texas State women’s volleyball team will be going against Northern Iowa who was just defeated by the Texas Longhorns this past Friday. The game will be hosted at home at the Strahan Arena starting at 7 p.m.

Full coverage of the third game of the season against UNI can be found on KTSW 89.9, the official radio station of Texas State University.
