Bobcat Radio is a 30-minute specialty show discussing everything Texas State and San Marcos sports. Three staff members jump on the mics three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m. and discuss sports. A guest joins each episode, namely a coach, player or figure close to the athletic programs at Texas State and San Marcos High School.
Host Garrett Martin and co-host Mason Moore grasp Bobcat Radio on Monday, Sept. 23. The weekend was good to Bobcat athletics, so the two hosts decide to have two pristine guests on the show.
The first is Bobcat volleyball head coach Karen Chisum. Now in her 40th season and with 900 wins under her belt, Chisum and her team swept the Creeds and Crests Classic, an invitational hosted by Texas State at Strahan Arena the weekend prior. She talks about their success in the tournament and the schedule ahead of her team.
The second caller is Texas State head football coach Jake Spavital. Now a recurring guest on Mondays, this time Spavital has his first win as a head coach under his belt after the triple overtime victory against Georgia State at home in the past weekend.
He talks a little about what the team did to celebrate, what the focus will be in practice with Nicholls State looming ahead, and mentions Coach Chisum and the wonderful ambassador she’s become at Texas State.
