Texas State is now 1-8 after losing 38-17 to Appalachian State on Saturday.

The Bobcats made the change back to Tyler Vitt as the starting quarterback this week after a tough outing for Brady McBride last week versus Louisiana.

Vitt had his ups and downs on the day finishing with 205 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Bobcats continue to get strong performances from their running back trio: Brock Sturges, Calvin Hill and Jahmyl Jeter. Texas State rushed for 215 yards versus the Mountaineers.

Jeter, an Oklahoma State transfer, led the team with a career-high 135 yards on 11 carries.

The Bobcats once again struggled defensively allowing 426 yards of total offense.

Appalachian State quarterback Zac Thomas completed 18 of his 27 pass attempts, three of which went for touchdowns.

Texas State fought hard throughout the game against a very good Mountaineer team but could not overcome the turnover deficit.

Appalachian State is now 5-1 and looks to be headed to a showdown versus undefeated Coastal Carolina for control of the Sun Belt Conference in two weeks.

Texas State will face another strong opponent this week against 5-2 Georgia Southern. The Eagles are coming off a 20-13 victory over Troy on Saturday.

The Bobcats will head to Statesboro, Georgia for the matchup. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN 3.
