The Volleyball season has begun, and it begins with a rivalry. The Bobcat’s schedule has been revealed and the first game of the season is against the Roadrunners. Known as the I-35 rivalry, UTSA has a long history with Texas State. With twenty wins and six losses for the Bobcats, they face each other on August 19 at 2 p.m.
In the first five games of the regular season, the Bobcats face Marist College, Tennessee, UT Martin, UNT and Houston. The full schedule for Texas State can be found here.
Entering the Sun Belt Conference, TXST faces off with old opponents that are all fighting for the number one spot. Starting off the conference against ULM, who has a twenty-two winning game streak. In addition, they face off against the Raging Cajuns, who has always challenged the Bobcats in a well-played game.
Another match to look out for is Texas State against James Madison University. Although only a few games have been shared together, history has already begun. With only a total of five games played, they are three wins and two losses. However, they were the ones to stop the Bobcats from advancing to the championships.
As they face off against many good opponents, the Bobcats are fighting for their second chance in the Sun Belt Championships. They got a taste of the Sun Belt championship game last season. However, their goals were cut short by James Madison.
As the prospects for the new season are revealed, the Bobcats are placed third in the conference and are left hungry for more.
