SAN MARCOS, TEXAS- Reigning Sunbelt player of the year and former James Madison quarterback Jordan McCloud has transferred to Texas State.

McCloud, a redshirt senior, threw for 3,627 passing yards and 43 total touchdowns this previous season. McCloud led the Dukes to an impressive 11-2 record and an appearance in the Armed Forces Bowl. Although the Dukes lost the bowl game 31-21 against Air Force, it was still a successful season for Jordan McCloud.

This is a game changer for Texas State, as their previous starting quarterback, TJ Finley, entered the portal, subsequently transferring to Western Kentucky University. The only other quarterbacks that were on the roster prior to the signing of McCloud were redshirt sophomore Karson Kaiser and incoming freshman Brad Jackson out of San Antonio Reagen. The signing of McCloud gives much-needed veteran experience to a Bobcat team with playoff aspirations.

This Bobcat team is oozing with potential heading into the 2024–25 season. Coming off a successful 2023–24 campaign, the Bobcats went 8–5 and won their first ever bowl game in program history. Head coach G.J. Kinne is stirring up something in San Marcos: trying to take back Texas.
