Game Two

In the second game of the series against the Mountaineers, the Bobcats were defeated 8-7 through 11 innings after leading 4-1 in the fifth inning. The maroon and gold now trail App. St 2-0 in the series.

Appalachian State opened the first inning putting a run on the board. Moquin was walked to first and stole second base. After three batters hit by the pitch, Moquin advanced home to put the Mountaineers up 1-0. All three runners were left stranded on base for App. State in the bottom first inning.

After no runs on the board for either team going into the fourth, Texas State put that to an end and put four runs on the board. At the end of the top of the fifth, the Bobcats led 4-1. App. State seized the momentum back quickly, scoring a run in the bottom fifth.

In the sixth inning, Appalachian State took the lead over Texas State and extended it. Trailing 4-2, the Mountaineers’ Church scored twice, while Miller, Lichtenberge, Moquin and Zamora all put a run on the board. The Mountaineers led 7-4 over Texas State.

In the eighth inning, Texas State tied the ball game by putting three runs on the board. Tabor, Collier and Gingrich all scored for the Bobcats making it a 7-7 ball game with App. State.

Game Three

In a chaotic game, Texas State was defeated 10-8 by Appalachian State through nine innings, giving the Mountaineers a series sweep over the Bobcats. The Bobcats gave up a total of 33 runs in the series.

Appalachian State began the series-finale hot. In the first three innings of the ball game the Mountaineers had built a 7-0 lead over the maroon and gold, seemingly putting a stamp on the series.

From the fifth to sixth innings, Texas State miraculously tied the ball game at 7-7. Shibley and Eaton scored two runs each, while Farber, Mora and Pugh scored one run apiece. Going into the bottom sixth, the game was tied 7-7.

Appalachian State immediately retook the lead in the bottom sixth after a 2RBI and RBI walk. Texas State put up a run in the eighth inning, but it was not enough to overcome the powerful Mountaineers offense.
