SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Texas State Bobcats fell to the No. 2 Texas Longhorns Tuesday night at Bobcat Ballpark in a high-scoring matchup.
Texas jumped out to an early lead in the first inning after loading the bases and bringing home two runs.

The Longhorns extended their lead in the third inning when Casey Borba hit a two-run home run to left field. Texas added two more runs in the fourth inning after Anthony Pack Jr. homered to left-center.
Texas State answered in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rashawn Galloway singled up the middle, and Manny Salas was hit by a pitch before Dawson Park launched a three-run home run to left-center field to cut into the deficit.
Head Coach Steven Trout said Park’s home run helped shift the momentum.
“That was a really big swing,” said Trout. “It got the fans back into the game and gave us a chance to make a run.”
The Bobcats added another run in the seventh inning when Galloway doubled to left-center, bringing Jackson Cotton home to score.
Texas continued to add runs late in the game. Borba hit his second home run of the night in the seventh inning, and the Longhorns added multiple runs in the eighth and ninth innings, including a three-run home run from Temo Becerra.
Trout also noted Park’s strong start to the season.
“He’s off to a great start,” said Trout. “You can definitely see the hard work paying off.”
Texas State will look to bounce back as the Bobcats gear up for their first conference game Friday against the University of Louisiana Monroe.
