COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas State Bobcats dropped a midweek matchup to No. 23 Texas A&M after a big fourth inning from the Aggies shifted the game’s momentum.
Both teams opened the game quietly, with neither side recording a hit in the first inning as Texas State’s Cade Canalichio and A&M’s starter kept offenses in check.
The Bobcats struck first in the second inning. Manny Salas and Ryder Farris reached on singles before Carson Stewart drove in the game’s first run with a base hit to center field. Chase Mora followed with an RBI single, and Jackson Cotton added another run on a groundout. Rashawn Galloway capped the inning with an RBI single, giving Texas State an early lead.

Texas A&M responded in the fourth inning in a big way. Hacopian got things started with a solo home run before the Aggies loaded the bases through a mix of hits and walks. Boston Kellner delivered a two-RBI single, followed by Gavin Grahovac’s two-run hit. Caden Sorrell then extended the lead with a two-run home run to right field, putting A&M firmly in control.
Texas State attempted to answer in the fifth inning when Galloway walked and Dawson Park drove him in with a double. Another run scored on a groundout, but the Bobcats were unable to build further momentum.
Sorrell added to the Aggies’ lead in the seventh inning with his second two-run home run of the night. Texas State’s offense stalled late, managing limited opportunities against A&M’s bullpen.
Head coach Steven Trout emphasized staying focused despite the tough stretch.
“It’s still early, and we’re figuring things out,” Trout said. “There’s no need for drastic changes—it’s about getting better each day.”
Texas State will look to bounce back in its next matchup against Louisiana.
