SAN MARCOS, Texas- The Bobcats kicked off their first game in the newly named Irvine-Rasmussen ballpark this past Tuesday.
They won 9-8 in the midweek matchup that gave the Bobcats their first win against the Aggies at home since 2013.
A&M came out on a hot start, scoring three, until the bottom of the second where Manny Salas hit a solo home run to open things up for Texas State.

The starting pitcher for Texas State for the first time was Alizaeh Gutierrez, he had one strikeout in the first two innings but then gave up three runs on three hits.
Kellen Eberly and Dylan Kerbow also worked some relief in the mid innings.
At the bottom of the third inning, Rashawn Galloway and Dawson Park had back to back singles that put runners on corners.
Ethan Farris then hit a sacrifice fly ball to give the Bobcats the lead, the lead then grew when Jaqaue Stewart crushed a ball up center field.
The Aggies then scored to get within one on a homer from Boston Kellner.
A&M then retook the lead in the sixth, with a two run frame due to a Texas State error.
Jaqaue Stewart then would take the lead back after a two RBI single to put Texas State up 9 to 7.
To end the game, Wade Cooper held things down while pitching, he was able to make the Aggies ground out to Chase Mora for the final out of the game.
Head Coach Steven Trout said crowds like the one for this midweek game are what makes playing at home so special.
“When they’re standing up, getting after it, that’s what you do this for,” said Trout. “The key is we gotta have these environments this weekend against Troy”.
Texas States next game will be at home against Stephen F Austin at 6 p.m. Tune in on KTSW San Marcos for more information.
