Tanner Carson’s First Home Run Gets the Job Done

SAN MARCOS, Texas– The Bobcats took on Houston Christian for a Tuesday midweek game, they won 4 to 3, 

Titan Targac was named starting pitcher for this game for Texas State. 

At just the third at bat to start the game, Jermey Rader of HCU hit a homer that gave them a 2-0 lead to start. 

Bottom of the first Manny Salas doubled to right center, which led to a Jackson Cotton run. 

Top of the second, Targac would get 2 strikeouts in a row to send Houston Christian back to the outfield. 

To end the second, Texas State took the lead, thanks to a home run from Chase Mora, it led to a Namken run. 

The entire third, neither team scored a run as pitchers were able to control the game. 

More of the same in the 4th, a defensive battle between both teams, the score was 3-2 Texas State, heading into the top of the 5th. 

The Bobcats beat the Houston Christian Huskies in San Marcos Tuesday night.

Titan Targac would be pulled in the middle of the 5th, he would be replaced by Dylan Kerbow.  

Amazing 3-4 double play sends this game to the bottom of the 5th, where Texas State hoped to build their 3-2 lead. 

Texas State however went 3 up and 3 down, sending Texas State on the outfield for the top of the 6th, where three more outs were made, giving Texas State another opportunity to bat. 

To which they were taken out of the ball game after three more outs, moving the game to four straight innings without a run. 

Alizaeh Gutierrez will check into the game for Kerbow to start the 7th inning.  

He would get a strikeout vs his first at bat, but then Preston Curtis singled down the rf line, Graham Laxton would score, tying this ball game. 

This made it a 3-3 game heading to the bottom of the 7th. 

Tanner Carson’s home run to left center put Texas State back in the lead 4-3. 

Top of the 8th Houston Christian would go scoreless after going three up and three down. 

At the bottom, Texas State did not score after great pitching from Houston Christian. 

Kyle Froehlich would then go on to pitch and win this game for Texas State, with a final score of 4 to 3.
