Rattlers Fall to Mavericks on Homecoming Night

San Marcos, Texas – Homecoming night was rough for the San Marcos Rattlers last night. After dealing with multiple rain delays and lightning strikes before and even during the game, the Rattlers struggled against the Madison Mavericks offense and fell 24-16, marking their third loss of the season.
Senior WR Jordan Lampkin had an electrifying game, coming up with big catches for the Rattlers, scoring only one touchdown but making timely plays. Rattlers head coach John Walsh only had praise when asked about Lampkin, “Well, Jordan is who he is, he’s our big play guy. For three games now, he’s been most of our offense.”
Throughout the game, rain fell, lightning struck, and tempers flared between the two schools as flags were thrown all night.
The Mavericks were moving the ball with ease while getting timely stops on the Rattlers, but fans saw 3 overturned touchdowns for Madison.
Though they had to evacuate the stands due to a rain delay at halftime, many fans stayed for the rest of the game to show their support. The Rattlers will take on the Pieper Warriors at home in their first district match-up at 7:30 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 18th.
