Warriors shutout Rattlers in a dominant win to start district

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Rattlers kicked off district play against the Pieper Warriors Friday night. The Rattlers who are still looking for their first win struggled against an impressive Warriors team losing 52-0, bringing their record to 0-4.
Despite the 52 on the scoreboard, Rattler head coach John Walsh had high praise for the defense, “I think our defense should be commended, I know that sounds stupid with 52 points, but when you keep putting them on the field, they’re going to get tired.”
Wide receiver Carson Lacombe for Pieper, a 2028 prospect with interest from Oklahoma, had himself a game with a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. In the second quarter, quarterback Chase Lyons hit him on a 53 and 19-yard touchdown.
When asked about practice this week, Walsh had a clear goal in mind.
“One, up front, we just gotta get physical,” Walsh said. “But I just didn’t think we fought back enough.”
The Rattlers will be on the road for the first time this season against the Canyon Cougars at 7:30 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 24.
