SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State Bobcats swept the Utah State Aggies at Strahan Arena this past Thursday, going into their first game in the Pac-12 conference. With over 1200 people in attendance, Brooke Bentke helped lead the Bobcats to an amazing victory, leading the team with 15 kills.

The Bobcats were able to stack together set wins at 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 to close out the midweek match before playing Colorado State at home. Starting off the game with a 9 to 11 deficit to then the match being closely contested, with multiple kills and assists leading the Bobcats to their first set win.
With being down the first set 9 to 11, Peyton Mckee stated, “I have to remind myself that volleyball is really a momentum-based sport, so bringing the energy can really flip a switch.”

Jasmine Purakal was also a crucial part of the Bobcat’s defense tonight, achieving 8 digs and multiple assists to their set wins.
After winning the 2nd set with ease both teams were battling out in the third. Coach Sean Huiet said “We had moments that we could have backed down and we didn’t. We found a way to push; we found a way to preserve a really good team.”
Now for the 3rd set against Utah State it was a close point to point game with India Bennet closing it with a kill assisted by Anna Blaine ending the game with the score of 25-23 securing a Texas State win by 3-0.
After this historical win for the program, Coach Sean Huiet said, “Texas State is known for playing our best as the season goes on.”
The Bobcats will stay home for their match up against Colorado State here at Strahan Arena this Saturday at 12PM, before going on the road against Oregon State and Boise State.
