According to Austin’s KVUE meteorologist Albert Ramon, we are in a three-year drought that started in 2010 and as a result the City of San Marcos has initiated stage three water restrictions.  The stage three water restrictions regulation states, using indoor and outdoor decorative water features is prohibited. This regulation has caused the water feature around the theater building to dry up and students like senior Ashley Randall to dwell on what use to be a Texas State icon.

“It really makes me sad to see the water around the theater building all gone.”
– Ashley Randall

According to the climate prediction center, it would take more than 11 inches of rain to get us out of the agricultural drought and more than 15 inches to end the hydrological drought.
