Add of The Week: The Julie Ruin
The Julie Ruin’s debut album Run Fast is this week’s top add for a number of reasons, but mainly GRRRL POWER. Members of the band include Bikini Kill front woman Kathleen Hanna, and bassist Kathi Wilcox as well as musicians from other notable bands associated with the Riot grrrl movement like Le Tigre and The Frumpies. Hanna belts out confident vocals over messy, yet poised guitar riffs–exactly what you would expect. However, this is not just another Bikini Kill album. The Julie Ruin establish their originality while maintaining their Riot grrrl roots. Listen for the album now on KTSW 89.9!
