One of the topics discussed was the changes in the election campaigning code. Some of the changes will decide how much money is being spent on elections and candidates cannot spend any money that will align themselves with another candidate. Under the previous code candidates could align themselves with each other and run as a ticket. Senator and elections commissions chair Cody Desalvo thinks this will improve the way elections run and the changes to the code were necessary..
“It will make it difficult for candidates to clump together and spend thousands of dollars on their campaigns Hopefully we can offset that by giving Senators the opportunities like reservations in the quad and giving candidates the opportunity to be successful regardless of that,” Desalvo said.
The code is pretty restrictive and its something that we need to follow.
