Bill Taylor Says City Construction Is A Need
Bill Taylor ran for Place 1 of San Marcos City Council against opponent Lisa Prewitt, losing with less than a 1/4 of the San Marcos vote.
Taylor is the owner of Bill Taylor and Associates Integrity Insurance Solutions and has also been the sitting chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission in San Marcos for 6 years. He has voted for more housing near campus so that it is walkable, bike-able and more friendly for students although he has realized this is a problem for some of the nearby neighborhoods. He also realizes all of the construction on the campus and downtown area is an inconvenience for students and bus routes, but believes it will pay off.
“During the construction phase its always going to be difficult,” Taylor said. “I think we have a downtown improvement going on now, we’re rebuilding a lot of the downtown area, beautifying that, its going to be great when its done. Unfortunately with all these projects going through the system its going to be cluttered for a while. We would love to be able to miss the enrollment time and off times but it takes too long to do the project, we just can’t do it.”
Taylor points out that the Texas State student body can do a lot if they unite and fight for a cause or candidate.
I think it is incredibly important for students to get out and vote, by my tally less than 1/3 of one percent early voted on campus and that’s almost criminal.
-Bill Taylor
Although Taylor will not be a city council member, he still plans on doing a lot in the community.
