Rock Yo Resume Workshop

Texas State Career Services will host a two-day workshop that will help students sharpen their resumes.

Career Services is there to help students with a two-day workshop, Rock Yo Resume, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, January 29-30, 10 am – 2 p.m. at LBJ Mall outside of the Student Center. The purpose of the workshop is to assist students in improving their resumes before the spring semester job fairs begin. Career advisor Allison Birk says that Rock Yo Resume is a workshop that also saves time for students.

“Students are very busy; they have a lot going on. Sometimes it’s hard for students to make appointments and actually fulfill those appointments and various offices meeting with their liaison or a career counselor here in the Career Services office. We bring those services to students.”

There will be six career advisors and two career counselors every hour looking over student resumes and giving immediate feedback and to critique. Birk also says that based on past experiences with Rock Yo Resume, Career Services stays busy throughout the day.

“In the past, we’ve cranked out about 60 resumes in a 4-hour period.”

The first day of Rock Yo Resume will also include Career Kickoff where Career Services will provide students with updates and details on upcoming career events.
