Complete Interview with “Broke Folks”

Broke Folks became the first band to stop by the studio this year, and they brought along a great interview with hosts Shannon and Ben. Broke Folks members Taylor Robbins and Alysha Harrell played live acoustic sets and talked all about being broke and doing what you love.

Both came to San Marcos to study at Texas State Universty, Robbins as a Spanish major and Harrell to study Agriculture. The two discussed finding inspiration in the much beloved San Marcos river, and developing more on their musical abilities with friends.

Where Robbin’s background lies more in hip-hop and rap, Harrell draws her experience from growing up in a musical household. According to them, the atmosphere has engaged their rootsy side as they play folk songs with friends and fellow students in San Marcos.
