Brides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) is a non-profit organization that has been around for 15 years providing free services to patients with different types of cancer. BABC is currently traveling to 120 cities on their “Nationwide Tour of Gowns,” trying to reach its goal of $2 million in donations during their coast-to-coast tour.
BABC receives gently or new worn gowns donated by boutiques and former brides who have already tied the knot. Dresses are not only affordable to fit any budget, but also come from various designers such as Vera Wang, Pronovia and Jasmine boutique.
Showcase manager Vanessa Pederson is one of the many volunteers who helps organize more than 100 bridal shows across the nation.
“We sell new and used gowns that have been donated to us from former brides or from boutiques, and we sell them at discounted prices to raise the funds for free services and programs for people and their caregivers who are impacted by cancer.”

BABC not only offers gowns in different shapes and sizes, but they also offer layaway. Dresses are also tax-deductible starting from $99 dollars-$3,900 hundred, according to Pederson. BABC originally started with a woman who owned a bridal boutique in Portland, Oregon, and was diagnosed with cancer. Pederson explains what type of services BABC provides.
“What we offer are education, nutrition, counseling classes yoga, that way it’s more of a social aspect of what their dealing with.”
