Munipal court employees had the day off on Friday, April 18.
Governmental services, which include the San Marcos Municipal Court were closed on April 18, for Good Friday. All other city of San Marcos offices remained open. Good Friday, a celebration two days before Easter Sunday, to commemorate the crusifiction and death of Jesus Christ in the Christian community.

Good Friday is considered a state holiday in 14 states, but is not a national holiday. States such as Texas, Indiana and Hawaii permit state employees to have the day off.
Director of Communications of the City of San Marcos Melissa Mellicam explained what defendants are to do if they are affected by the closure on Friday.
“So if people who might have appointments or to make appearances or file any paperwork on this friday will have until Monday to do that so they are getting a weekend extension to get their paper work in.”

Mellicam also explains what people are to do regarding the closure on Good Friday.
“That if people have any questions or any concerns they can call 512-393-8190 and they can talk to Court Administrator Susie Garcia or one of the staff members.”
