Making the long trek up North from San Antonio, the band Islands and Tigers popped into Other Side Drive to play a rare acoustic set. Although the band’s regular sound is of a indie-pop surf persuasion, we had the chance to hear the band stripped down to its bare essentials. The rare performance was less rock and roll and more blossoming fields of wildflowers on a sunny day in Texas.
We talked up the band’s upcoming Summer tour that is set to hit cities across Texas and along the California coast. The band reports looking forward to checking out the music scene in SoCal and gaining new friends and fans along the way.
To get us ready for Summer, Islands and Tigers played some breezy versions of songs off of their EP release Failed Attempts. By the end of their set the Other Side Drive crew was ready for a long season of floating the river and falling in love. And speaking of the river, Islands and Tigers will be playing this year’s MR FEST right here in San Marcos, TX! In a show that promises to end the semester on a high note the band plans on pulling out all the stops for their electrified showcase.
To learn more about the band, check them out on facebook and at their bandcamp page where you can hear all the tracks off their lasted EP Best Wishes.
