Today is the last day to register to vote in the November election. Voting begins Tuesday, Nov. 4, with early voting beginning Monday, Oct. 20. Each Voter Application form must be received at least 30 days prior to the posted election date or today. Voting stations will be located on campus in the LBJ Student Center.

One of the oldest societies on Texas State’s campus, the LBJ Debate Society, will host the British National Debate Team tomorrow. They will be covering the Common Experience theme: “Democracy’s Promise: From Segregation to Integration.” The open debate will be hosted in the Performing Arts Center’s recital hall.

Texas State’s hosting child rights activist James Kofi Annan. Audwin Anderson, director of the Center of Diversity and Gender Studies, says child rights are important on a global scale, but it’s good to be aware of it in the San Marcos area. The event will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom.

Tonight the San Marcos City Council will consider changing speed limits from 35 to 30 miles per hour on a portion of FM 2439, or Hunter Road. There will also be a public hearing at 7 p.m. on the establishment of a Public Improvement District, or PID, for the Whisper Public Improvement District by Yarrington Partners.
