I was lucky enough to sit down with Chris Simpson from the Austin, TX band, Mineral, on the rise of their recent reunion after a seventeen year hiatus at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. Seeing the band perform live in their hometown to a huge crowd of people was absolutely incredible. Mineral are considered an influential band that came out of the 90s Emo scene, compared to the likes of Sunny Day Real Estate and American Football, although if you ask Chris, he’s not too keen on genre labels. To hear Chris’ thoughts on “Emo revival,” Sun Kil Moon, and what the band has been up to for nearly twenty years, listen to the full interview above!
