The FBI has arrested 3 men this afternoon for attempting to fly from New York to Turkey to join ISIS. CNN reports, The United States Attorney’s office in Brooklyn is charging the suspects with providing material support to terrorists. The arrests occurred after a complaint was unsealed by the FBI containing recorded conversations between the suspects the suspects initially drew the attention of the FBI through their social media posts. The conversations revealed the suspects’ plans to commit acts of terrorism on American soil if they could not successfully travel to Syria.
ISIS is holding more Assyrian Christians hostages than previously reported. According to CNN, ISIS is currently holding 150 Christians hostage and is planning to release a message sometime today threatening to kill them. The video message is said to be directed to President Obama and other members of the U.S. led coalition against ISIS. The Assyrians were kidnapped earlier yesterday in northeastern Syria.
Eddie Ray Routh was found guilty of murder in the killings of two including American Sniper, Chris Kyle. According to the Washington Post, 27-year-old Routh will spend the rest of his life in prison. The case focused on whether Routh should be held responsible for the murders despite being diagnosed with mental illnesses in recent years and argued by reason of mental insanity. Prosecutors believed his conditions were no excuse for murder.

The San Marcos Police Department is still asking for help in locating a missing man. 25-year-old Jonathan Russell was last seen Thursday morning on the access road in the 1600 block of IH-35. Russell is a white male about 6’2″ with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a burnt orange sweatshirt, green t-shirt, and blue jeans. Russell has been entered into the Texas Crime Information Center as well as the National Crime Information Center.
