On Tuesday night at 6:00pm the Texas State Bobcats will play host to the Texas Longhorns in what is game one of a three game series that will be played throughout the season. The longhorns who are ranked #10 at the nation coming into the game, enter Bobcat Ballpark with a 16-8 record on the season.
In contrast, the Bobcats, who are coming off of a series finale win against South Alabama this past weekend are entering the matchup with a 10-12-1 record on the young season. While the University of Texas is one of the closest universities to Texas State in terms of distance, the two teams could not have been farther apart in terms of success throughout the years.
The Longhorns hold a 40-9 record on the Bobcats overall, however they’ve won the last 19 consecutive meetings between the storied teams. Texas State, who has never beaten the longhorns within the friendly confines of Bobcat Ballpark, will attempt to do so tonight, on the right arm of Freshman Montana Parsons. Parsons enters the game with an 0-2 win/loss record and a 3.78 ERA, while the Longhorns will feature the Southpaw of Josh Sawyer who is 2-1, with a 4.87 ERA.
Texas, who is coming off of a sweep of Big 12 Opponent Kansas State is just 4-4 on the road this year and their last loss came to Sun Belt Conference foe University of Texas Arlington.
Tickets to tonight’s game have been sold out, but you can catch the Bobcats, led by the hot bats of Granger Studdard, Ben McElroy, and David Paiz live at 6:00pm right here on KTSW 89.9 The Other Side of Radio or online at KTSW.net.
