Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa did it again. ‘Uber Driver’ is the first single released from their upcoming mixtape 2009. Curren$y says they named the project 2009 paying homage to the year when the two artists created their first collab-mixtape How Fly. ‘Uber Driver’ is already a fan favorite, and it seems like Wiz is back to his original How Fly, Burn after Rolling, Kush and Orange Juice flow. Of course Curren$y never switched up staying on the underground path, constantly dropping new waves of free music like Drive In Theater, Saturday Night Car Tunes, Pilot Talk III and more.

Wiz and Curren$y linked up for a show at Yahoo! Brazos Hall during SXSW in Austin, TX, where they both spoke on dropping the new tape. The timing of the release of ‘Uber Driver’ couldn’t be more fitting. Uber, a mobile-app-based transportation service, was possibly the most convenient way to get around during SXSW for travelers unfamiliar with the streets of Austin (like myself). Sledgren destroyed this beat, which is nostalgic for all the day-one Wiz Khalifa fans. Wiz completes the song with his melodic hook, and if this track is foreshadowing the sound of 2009, they’ve got our full attention.
