Popular fast casual restaurant, Zaxby’s has officially opened in San Marcos. The southeast favorite- most famous for its’ chicken and  unique dipping sauces- opened its’ doors Monday morning to numerous eager San Marcos residents.

Zaxby’s general manager, Brian Whatley said that bringing the franchise to San Marcos presented a great opportunity.

“We’re always looking for a place to grow and an opportunity to help communities and we noticed that no Zaxby’s was here,” Whatley  said.

He also mentioned just what it is Zaxby’s will be bringing to San Marcos.

“We’re just going to be cooking up the best chicken you’ve ever had,” Whatley  said. “We’re going to be sponsoring and supporting a lot of people. We also bring Make-A-Wish with us out here. We do that every year; we’re big on Make-A-Wish Foundation.”

Zaxby’s has been teaming up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for years to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Whatley said that he would also like Zaxby’s to have an important impact on the San Marcos community.

“We’d like to provide the support for the school’s- we’ve got lots of high schools and middle schools and colleges here- we’re going to be partnering up with them along with several of the organizations here,” Whatley  said.

As far as what he thinks about the city, Whatley is very impressed.

“Everybody I’ve talked to since I’ve been here-which has been a lot of people- they’re great people. They’re very friendly-among the friendliest people I’ve ever met. They’re excited. They’re anxious to get in here and see what Zaxby’s is all about. And I’m just happy to be here.”

Zaxby’s has over 600 locations in the Southeast United States with eight of them now in Texas. The San Marcos location is on South IH 35 in front of Starbucks.
