Is it just me or have Labor Day activities become repetitive; either you’re eating BBQ with

your family or you’re relaxing at a nearby beach with your friends. Don’t get me wrong

anything dealing with food will always have my vote but this year I vowed to myself I would get

out of my ritual. However, just like any other college student I am very cautious of what I spend

my money on. In just 15 minutes, I was able to find numerous events throughout Labor Day

weekend ranging from $15-$23, so you can rest assure your wallets won’t be crying this year.

  1. Kayak or Paddleboard $20 602 Interstate 35 San Marcos, Tx 78666

Instead of opting for the beach grab your friends and family and head over to the

Olympic Outdoor Center and enjoy a day in the water. Feeling like a surfer? Rent their

paddleboards for a few hours and hit the waves. If you’re more of the easy going type,

delight in the sun in your kayak and leave the work to your friends.

  1.  Room Escape Game for two $23 4500 Sheppard Ave East, Unit 101A

Who said the haunted house were only in October? Find a friend and work together to

find clues to escape a themed room at Origin Room Break.

  1. Painting Party $17 1104 Thorpe Lane Suite T San Marcos, TX 78666

Get your creative juices flowing and attend a painting party. At Personal Picasso painting

you’ll be able to socialize and make new friends while the instructor guide you into

making your first Picasso piece.

  1. Big Sean at Whitewater Amphitheater $15 11860 FM 306 New Braunfels, TX 78132

If you’re more of a music goer, enjoy the outdoors while listening to rapper Big Sean as

he performs songs from his album, “Dark Sky Paradise”. If that didn’t sell you, maybe

the price of $15 will.

  1. San Antonio Auto show (200 E. Market St. San Antonio, TX 78205)

Interested in the latest cars? Go out to the Auto show where they will host trending cars

and trucks. If you have hot cars that can only mean one thing, celebrities. Keep a

marker with you because you just might luck up and get an autograph. Along with cars

will include prizes and food throughout the day.
