Place 6 Incumbent Shane Scott’s Message to Voters

The University Star hosted a debate between City Council Candidates for place five and six, where incumbent for place 6 Shane Scott had something to say to voters.

Shane Scott has served on the San Marcos City Council in place 6 for over five years, and is looking to add to that tenure in this year’s City Council election.

Before taking the podium to debate opponent  Melissa Derrick, Shane Scott hopes voters recognize how he has stressed growth in San Marcos during his time as a city councilman.

“As myself as a part of city council has really emphasized the growth factor in allowing business to more here so that our students as citizens would be able to have jobs here. And that’s actually coming to fruition with Amazon and EPIC pipe and a lot of other ones.”

Scott said that since his time at Texas State University, San Marcos has changed for the better, and that change is predicated on growth. Something Scott says we should continue to strive for.

“And that continued drive too me is what’s important, like I said I wasn’t able to get a job when I graduated from here and I had to start my company in Austin. And now you can actually live here and work and play so I want to make sure we continue that path.”

Scott also believes that one key to growth is putting things in the right place to place to grow efficiently.

Scott is running against Melissa Derrick for place 6 in the San Marcos City Council, early voting begins on Monday October, 19th.
