Flooding Prompts Road Closures Across the City

There have been at least 20 road closures reported to the City of San Marcos. Kristi Wyatt, Director of San Marcos Communications, said that it is unsafe to be on the roads and residents should only leave their home if it is absolutely necessary.  

“We’re urging people to just stay home if they can and to please be sure to check for dangerous areas, I’m looking at a list of probably 20 road closures that we know about so there’s no reason to be out in this weather in the potential of flooding if you don’t have to be.”

Here are road closures being reported around the city:

  • OPEN: I-35 at Blanco River (San Marcos)
  • Closed: I-35 at Buda
  • Closed: Moore Street at Smith (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Cheatham Street at Rio Vista (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Aquarena Springs Drive at Sessom (San Marcos)
  • Closed: North LBJ at Sessom (San Marcos)
  • Closed: University Drive @ CM Allen (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Thorpe Lane at HEB (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Post Road at Uhland Road (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Hopkins Street at San Antonio (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Highway 80 at River Road (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Highway 80 at Blanco River (San Marcos)
  • Closed: River Road at Cape Road (San Marcos)
  • Closed: River Road @ East Access Rd (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Hunter Rd @ McCarty Ln (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Hunter Rd @ Foxtail (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Whitetail Drive at Hunter Rd (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Wonder World south of Stagecoach (San Marcos)
  • Closed: Flores Street area (San Marcos )
  • Closed: 1500 blk N IH35 near Outlets (San Marcos)
  • Closed: (Toward Wimberley) Ranch Road 12 at Baptist Academy, also at Wimberley Glass Works
  • Closed: (Hays County) Old Bastrop Highway at the San Marcos River
  • Closed: Redwood Road at Cottonwood Parkway
  • Closed: Windy Hill @ 35 (Kyle)
