Finals week is just a few weeks away and that means this town will be awake much longer than usual. Yes, we like to stay at bars until 2 a.m., but we also dedicate a lot of our time to good old Albert B. Alkek Library. Not only do we deprive ourselves of sleep, but we also have no time to make food and often forget to eat. Don’t know this town very well, or don’t have much time to leave the library? I can tell you some great places that are open late that you should keep in mind for finals week.

Erbert and Gerbert’s Sandwich Shop
I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve ordered from this place late at night. They deliver until 3 a.m. and make some amazing sandwiches and soup. My favorite is the Apollo. Slices of avocado and BBQ sauce? I want it now.

We all know about this one. The biggest Stoner Pie you can get at 2 in the morning. If you don’t want that, there’s always pizza rolls. Or wings. Either way you go, there’s no going wrong with Gumby’s, especially since they also deliver.

Fuego is open 24 hours a day and has an endless list of tacos. Do I really need to say more?

Jimmy John’s
Jimmy John’s delivery guys don’t mess around. They really are super fast. I once ordered a sandwich and two minutes later it was at my door. It was great. If you’re looking for something quick during a study break, this place is the way to go.

A Texan classic, if you’re craving a honeybutter chicken biscuit at 3 in the morning after studying for that accounting test all night, make your way to Whatabuger and get yourself one… or three.

Wake the Dead Coffee House
Wake the Dead has been a favorite ever since my freshman year. It’s open until midnight , but during midterms and/or finals week, they try to keep it open until 3 a.m. The people who work there are so nice and make delicious coffee, sandwiches, and soup! A very chill place to study, you’ll be able to make yourself right at home.

Of course the list of late night places goes on, but these are all my personal favorites when I’m looking at a late night. San Marcos has so many options when it comes to food. It’s good to know you don’t have to look far if you need that late night study break fix.
