Around 4:40 AM Sunday morning, the Texas State University Police Department received a 911 call from a female Texas State student saying she woke to a random male in her dorm room at Sterry Hall and saw him touching a sleeping female.
Ledward Spencer, who is not a Texas State student, was arrested and charged with burglary of habitation and has previously been issued a criminal trespass warrant from the Texas State campus.
Spencer was found within 30 minutes after police arrived on the 400th block of N. LBJ Dr. after a detailed description was given by the victim.
The Department of Housing and Residential Life did send an email to on-campus housing students explaining what happened but no formal press release has been sent out by the university to others.
University Police say they will continue to work on gathering accurate and detailed information that can be released to the public.
“We wanna make sure that we have everything in place and make sure we are not missing anything. Just because on some police cases an arrest was made, that doesn’t indicate the case is already over,” said Daniel Benitez, Captain of Operations for the Texas State Police Department.
An investigation is still pending, though Spencer has been arrested.
