Coming from San Antonio, I’ve always noticed a lack of presence and overall originality when it came to our music scene, but there’s been a gradual change in that dynamic over the years. The indie scene has become a lot more unified and bands like junkie have really proved to me, and others, that Austin isn’t the only alternative music city in Texas.
junkie has been making music for a little over a year and have already come out with an album, played countless shows and have thrown their own festival. San Marcos should expect this surf punk trio to not only play great jams, like “Glued Ghouls” or “Dazed and Confused,” but to bring an amazing, fun energy to wherever they play. Don’t be surprised to see people dancing and singing in the crowd, junkie is all about smiling and having a good time. The people who decide to check them out at Superfly’s are guaranteed that this MR Fest.
