The San Marcos Rattlers running back Jamon Johnson starts the game by taking it 95-yards for a kickoff return touchdown. Then, Akins got the ball and drove it down the field on a long drive but then the Rattler defense holds Akins at the 14-yard line for a 24-yard field goal. The score was 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.
With the first play of the second quarter, Tyler Moreno runs it in two yards for the touchdown and capping off a long San Marcos drive taking the 14-3 lead. It was Moreno’s fifth rushing touchdown on the year.

Akins was on offense, but after the Rattlers sniffed out a screen for a big loss, Akins was forced to punt. On the next drive, Johnson busted it for a big running touchdown to put up San Marcos 21-3 with 9:27 left in the second quarter. Akins tried to respond with a long drive, but on a fourth down play, the Rattlers met them in the backfield for a turnover on downs. The score was 21-3 going into halftime.
Not much happened in the second half as the San Marcos defense continued to dominate with an Austin Castillo interception, his first of the season to Akins 33-yard line. This lead San Marcos to a 24-yard field go to go up 24-3 late in the third quarter.
Johnson sat the fourth quarter to rest, and San Marcos continued to play good defense and run out the clock. San Marcos went on to win their homecoming game and move to 1-0 in district play.
