Several Major Positions and Bonds Up for Election in San Marcos Community

Two bonds are up for vote on the ballot. Proposition 1 includes just over $106 million for public safety and law enforcement facilities. Proposition 2 includes just over $131 million for public road projects.

There are five candidates in the running for mayor, including John Thomaides, Cherif Gacis, Ruben Becerra, Sam Brannon and Jacob Montoya.

For City Council Place 1 Seat, Lisa Prewitt and Rene’ Compean are running.

Candidates Shane Scott, Lisa-Marie Coppoletta and Allison Cason are running for City Council Place 2 Seat.

Finally, candidates Gaylord Bose, Brian Henderson, Ed Mihalkanin and Jason Montgomery are running for City Council Place 3 Seat.

The polls opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. today.
