Things to Know Before the Raven’s Home Premiere

I like to think people my age grew up during the Golden Era of Disney Channel. We had shows like Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, The Proud Family, Kim Possible, etc. But out of all those shows, the one that I just could not get enough of was That’s So Raven. Raven Baxter (Raven-Symoné), the talented, fashionable teenage psychic, was basically my television idol from 2003 to 2007. When I found out that a spin-off series was coming to Disney Channel this summer, I nearly flipped and fangirled like my pre-tween self would years ago. If you are a That’s So Raven fan like me, you probably be tuning in to see the first episode of Raven’s Home on July 21 and I have a couple of things you may want to know before you watch it.

Raven and Devon did end up getting married…but are divorced.

On the highest of levels, I was really rooting for Raven and Devon. They were the ideal example of a puppy love couple for me growing up. Unfortunately, their love could not stand the test of time, so we will not be seeing these two married in Raven’s Home. Although they are divorced, Devon is the father of Raven’s twins Booker and Nia. Jonathan McDaniel, the actor who played Devon, has been spotted filming some scenes on set, so at least we will be able to see what he is up to as well.

Raven’s son shares her psychic ability.

It looks like the series will begin with Booker figuring out that he is a psychic as well. Now those who watched That’s So Raven know that Raven’s ability to see the future caused her a lot of mischief and us a lot of laughs. Isaac Ryan Brown, who plays Booker, looks adorable and I think he just might be able to hold his own against Raven-Symoné. I am hoping that two psychics in one house is even more entertaining than one.

Chelsea still appears to be dimwitted. (which is great.)

As expected, Raven and Chelsea (Anneliese Louise Van Der Pol) are still best friends. In fact, they are both divorced with kids and living together. Although she is now a mother to a son of her own, she appears to still be the same ditzy Chelsea from That’s So Raven. This is a relief for me because that is what made me fall in love with her character! I would like to see her still living the vegetarian lifestyle after all these years as well.

It does not look like Eddie will be featured in the series and we all know why…

Although Orlando Brown, who played Eddie, was present during the That’s So Raven reunion on The View, his social media presence probably cost him a spot on the new series. Let us just say Disney probably would not agree with most of the content Mr. Orlando Brown had on Instagram. I am sure most of us saw the videos, so there is no need to explain. And even though he made a post begging to reprise his role, it was basically a lost cause. So if you want to catch Eddie Thomas again, your best bet is to watch old rerun episodes of That’s So Raven.

I hope I am not the only one anticipating the premiere just to see what Raven’s Home is all about. I plan on writing a review of the show after a couple of episodes, so share your thoughts with me via Twitter (@jayjayand808s)!
