Wow-Wees Cafe is a Mexican food restaurant in San Marcos, Texas. After visiting this restaurant it became clear to me why Wow-Wees is one of the most popular hole-in the-wall restaurants in town. The food huge and the community was as diverse as it was welcoming. There are many reasons why anyone who wishes to achieve the maximum San Marcos experience must eat at this local cafe.
When it comes to food, customers are definitely getting their money’s worth. I went to Wow-Wees for the first time and ordered a both a burrito and a taco from their huge menu. When the waitress brought me my food, I was surprised to see how large both items I ordered were. Even though I am a full-grown male, I was not able to eat everything I ordered. I actually left the restaurant with a full stomach and a bag filled with leftovers. Wow-Wee’s is definitely one of the most popular Mexican food restaurants in town and I finally understand why so many people love this place. The tortillas are homemade and are served to customers right of the oven. I enjoyed both entrees I ordered because they were flavorful and stuffed with food. I honestly believe even the hungriest of football players will be satisfied with the portion sizes Wow-Wees has. This restaurant is definitely the go to place in San Marcos when ordering a lot of food for cheap.
The repeat customers at Wow-Wees truly represent the culture of San Marcos. While I ate my food, I took some time to do some people-watching. I was there around lunch, one of their busiest times, and noticed that their was almost a 50/50 split between college aged customers compared to all other age groups. After seeing so many Texas State students walking through the front door of Wow-Wees it made a lot of sense why a college aged student like me would hear so many of my peers talk about this place. Wow-Wees is one of the go to Mexican food spots for college students on the East side of San Marcos. As for the non-college aged customers many people came here alone dressed up in their work clothes. So, Wow-Wees is a popular lunch spot in San Marcos for all San Martians. I found this to be very interesting because there is not many restaurants in San Marcos where both Texas State students and locals to San Marcos both go to routinely.
Wow-Wees Cafe is loved by many people who live in or around the San Marcos area. If anyone wishes to gain the maximum San Marcos experience then get ready to eat a lot of food. Everyone who comes to Wow-Wees leaves with both a full stomach and a full heart.
