San Marcos has found itself in the midst of a wave of rainy days (ha ha). In a town with so many outside-focused activities (ponder on the last restaurant you went to here that did not have a patio), thinking of how to spend your summer days inside can be kind of a challenge. Not to fear, here is a list of ideas on how to capitalize on your day indoors!
Browse Around Your Local Library
The San Marcos Library is a true gem. From tons of books to many desktops, you will find yourself emerged into a comfortable relaxation. Venture out and pick up a fun, free way to get lost in another world.
Try a New Recipe
We all have those 150 recipes pinned on Pinterest. Dive into the pot and scoop one out to actually try. Even if your upside-down Oreo crusted cheesecake does not turn out like the picture, it is still a fun way to spend the afternoon. Turning nothing into something, in any sense, is a great way to flex your creative muscles.
Paint
Get your artistic juices flowing and pour yourself into a painting. Okay, you do not have to put your heart and soul into it, but it is super fun way to spend some time. I always feel like adding glitter really sets it off, but I also think glitter is my favorite inanimate object so maybe I am bias.
Watch a Movie
Now, this one is a classic. I think everyone’s first physical reaction to a rainy day is to snuggle. So, why not snuggle up in front of a good movie (or a terrible one, I have a soft spot for really bad romantic films). Get your snacks and cuddle blankets ready!
Pamper Yourself

Go ahead, set the mood. Light some candles, get your favorite jam album on and send all of the loving vibes back to yourself. This is the perfect time to soak in the tub, try a new facemask or exfoliating scrub, paint your toes, or all of the above! These days are few and far between for some of us and much needed. Remember, the affection and care with which you treat yourself is the energy that you will naturally attract. You only have one glorious body that was given to you, make sure to give it all of the love.
Actually Go Outside?
This one seems kind of contradictory to the article as a whole, but stay with me here. Sometimes going outside in the pouring rain is the most cleansing feeling. The rain can literally feel as if it is washing away the things you no longer want to hold onto, things that no longer serve you. You can also just go out there to play! Why are we so afraid of getting wet? It is how we began, our most natural state. So, try all of the rainy day activities but also try to step into the rain every once in a while. It is good for the soul.
By Clayton Ambrose Music Journalist "Bomb the Music Industry! (and Action Action) (and Refused) (and Born Against) Are F**king Dead” reads the title of the sixth track on Bomb The Music Industry!’s 2006 album, To Leave or Die In Long Island. What was once a cynical and ironic jab at the band’s expense is now a bitter reality: Bomb The Music Industry! are, truly, f**king dead. Saying that they left […]
