The Texas State Volleyball team was in a battle Thursday night at Strahan Coliseum. They came back from a 2-0 set deficit to beat the UTSA Roadrunners for their 5th win of the season, and their 4th win in a row. It moves the Bobcats to a 5-2 record in this early campaign, and serves as a momentum builder moving forward. The first two sets the Roadrunners came out guns blazing with a mission to get their first win of the season against their I-35 rivals. Brianna McCulloch had an outstanding performance for UTSA with a game high 23 kills. However. that was not enough for the trio of Madison Daigle, Megan Porter, and Jaliyah Bolden who together combined for 43 kills for Texas State. To put things in perspective the rest of the Bobcats only had 15 kills total. What eventually made the difference for the Bobcats was their experience over the Roadrunners. It definitely showed when UTSA committed 39 errors and the Bobcats only committed 29.
The Bobcats look to keep their winning streak alive as they continue the Creeds and Crests Classic here in San Marcos. Their next match will be Friday at 7pm against the Southern Methodist University Mustangs. They will then move onto Saturday and take on the UMass Lowell River Hawks at 11am. Later Saturday evening the Bobcats finish things out against The Houston Baptist University Huskies at 5pm. All those can matches can be followed by going to txstatebobcats.com.
