As we celebrate the 7th annual College Radio Day, I can’t help but reflect on how much I love KTSW. And it’s not just because I work for the station, it’s because of what the station stands for. We aren’t mainstream radio. We are students learning the ropes.

We are constantly perfecting our crafts. We are giving our audience content they can’t get anywhere else. That is the overall goal, it sets us apart from normal radio. That is the beauty of college radio. As part of the KTSW staff, I make an effort of getting others to support the work we do here at the station. In honor of College Radio Day, here are some ways you can support KTSW today and in the future:
Tune Into Our Programming
KTSW gives you a reason to want turn on your radio. Our Program Department is amazing and what I love most about the content is that it’s authentic. It’s the type of radio you can only get from a college campus. From the music, to the news, to the sports and anything else you hear, the hard work and dedication that fills our airwaves deserves all the listens it can get. I would like to give a special shoutout to our DJs and specialty show hosts. You all are an integral part of why we are one of the top college radio stations in the country.
Share The Articles On Our Blog
College radio goes far beyond the airwaves of course. KTSW’s Web Content staff works hard to give the station a great online presence. You most likely wouldn’t be reading this now if it wasn’t for this blog. We have a variety of writers who write about different topics, so there are articles for everyone to enjoy. If you read something you like, share it

with your peers and tell them to check us out. I admire all the writers we have on staff here at KTSW and I’m sure if you take the time to read their work, you will understand why. We need more people to be looking at this noteworthy work.
Follow Our Social Media
What better way to keep up with what’s going on with KTSW than by following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat? Our Social Media Department posts on each outlet consistently, so there is always something for you to know about. One thing about our social media that I appreciate is that it doesn’t feel fabricated. We keep it professional, but it also doesn’t seem like there’s robots operating behind the screens. If our dope pictures and videos don’t attract you either, I don’t know what else will.
Come Out To Our Events
KTSW knows how to put on an event. In fact, we put on a lot of them. Third Thursday,

Harvest Live, Underground Excellence, Rock Your Chakras, need I say more? If you haven’t been to any of our events so far, you’re truly missing out. Luckily for you, we’ve got you covered for the future. Sometimes we even have free events and who doesn’t love free? So don’t miss out on experiencing good music and good vibes with the KTSW family.
Volunteer To Work For The Station
When I got to Texas State, I knew I wanted to leave my mark in some sort of way. KTSW gave me the perfect opportunity to do so. It’s more than just a job for me. When I come

into the office, I’m surrounded by people I look up to and inspire me. I truly enjoy being apart of the staff. And what I put into KTSW actually matters. Each person on staff contributes to the success of the station. We are like the oil that keeps KTSW running. If you want to be a part of the legacy that is KTSW, there is no harm in applying for a position.
Support Other College Radio Stations
In a time where radio is said to be dying, it is important that we keep it alive. What is wonderful about days like College Radio Day is college stations around the world can come together and support one another. KTSW is a name known and loved by tons of other college stations around the country. Not only do we want to lead by example, but we want to ensure that college radio continues to be appreciated. So support college radio as a whole because there’s something truly special about student programming.
We will have live broadcasting for the rest of College Radio Day, so be sure to tune into KTSW 89.9!
