Every freshman at Texas State since the early 2000s will remember the Common Experience and many of the events that come with it. Every year the curriculum is centered around a new topic, ranging from things like hatred and courage to the lives of migrant workers in Texas. This year’s topic is on justice, including the American judicial system, and features speaker Anthony Graves, who was incarcerated for 18 years for a crime he did not commit. KTSW invited two organizers of this year’s Common Experience events, Marquiss Twister and Shannon Fitzpatrick, to talk about the many things going on campus.
