Tea has so many benefits, there’s no reason to not drink it! Photo by Brittney Hemmands
After a long and brutally hot Summer, Fall has finally arrived. To get prepared for this cold weather, I usually think of three essentials that I need: leggings, boots, and beanies. Still, I find myself freezing and craving hot drinks to keep me warm throughout the day. Starbucks is a must, but can get quite expensive if going there every day. This is why I took on the obsession of drinking tea a few years ago. Even though keeping myself warm during the day was my main concern, I was quickly hooked on the herbal refreshment when I found out all the amazing benefits it came with. Whether you are a coffee drinker, a tea enthusiast, or have never had tea in your life, here are a few things I have learned that could possibly get you just as hooked on tea as I am.
Helps You Sleep or Become Awake
We all have days where insomnia gets the best of us or we find it difficult to roll out of bed. Sometimes, we may result to sleep medicines or coffee to end or start the day. This is why trying out tea can be extremely important, as it is a natural way to help us wind down or kick start the day. Chamomile tea is a great tea to drink before going to bed and green or mint tea can help you get right back up. Celestial Seasonings even has a tea called Sleepytime to help you fall asleep, so you won’t have to look hard when shopping.
Weight Loss
There are plenty of detox/weight loss pills and drinks on the market, but many of them have harsh chemicals that may not be the best for you. If you are looking for a way to lose weight but want a healthier option, try green tea, white tea, or a tea specifically made for weight loss that only includes natural herbs. I always opt for green tea whenever I feel bloated or a little overweight, and within a week I notice that my belly is flatter or I feel better about my appearance overall. Also, tea is a more inexpensive purchase, compared to the hundreds of dollars it may take to buy diet pills.
Clear Skin
In addition to weight loss, tea can also help you achieve clear skin. The antioxidant properties help your skin to look young and fresh. My biggest recommendation goes, again, to green tea, as it helps get rid of oiliness and acne causing bacteria. Rooibos and chamomile tea can do an impeccable job with clearing skin imperfections also.
Prevents Disease
Diseases plague millions of individuals in the world daily. Some of these diseases require constant attention from doctors or medicine and treatments that cost thousands of dollars. Although it is not a known fact that tea can reverse these diseases, it can definitely help prevent them. Diabetes, arthritis, and cancer are just some of the diseases that can potentially be prevented. Even if you just want a stronger immune system, try drinking a cup of tea daily.
