Ways to Avoid Boredom

Aside from school, work or responsibilities, you might find yourself in your spare time bored out of your mind, pacing back and forth trying to think of something to do that won’t cost much and could be interesting at the same time. You might feel the urge to travel which could be expensive depending on your destination. However, if you think about it, you are in the right place to venture out and find some interesting activities that could be inexpensive too! Living in San Marcos is a great place to find unlimited activities since it’s in between Austin and the San Antonio area which is known to have many scenic parks, hip places, and lively stuff to do.

Once the weekend rolls around, typically college students want to use them to relax and get away from all things school related. Some activities that can help with that are water activities. Being around water can provide a peaceful feeling, and some places near can do that for you such as visiting Jacob’s Well in Wimberley, or floating the river at Sewell Park here in San Marcos. Some other scenic outdoor activities for your weekends could be simply browsing the flea market in Kyle, hiking near the Austin 360 Bridge, or walking through the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio. If you are looking for a nightly activity that doesn’t involve much you can also cruise down to New Braunfels and watch two movies for the price of one at the Stars and Stripes Drive-In Theatre.

For those who aren’t fans of being outdoors, some other alternatives could simply be window shopping either in downtown San Marcos or in Wimberley, which has fascinating antique shops. Waterloo Records is another hip place to buy or look at vintage records as well as view a diverse music collection, which happens to be located in Austin. The Weird Museum is another inexpensive place in Austin for those who are interested in all things that are strange, as well as a live performances. Some other places you and your friends can do is to go out discovering new restaurants or fast food places. For instance, if you are looking to have a nice date night you can head over to The Leaning Pear in Wimberley that has a nice patio with lights streaming from the top. Also, if you are looking for a nostalgic feel at a fast food joint, Johnny Rockets is a place to check out since it still carries the ’50s diner theme located in San Marcos.

Lastly, for those who are more into staying in for the weekend, some creative and time-consuming things to do when you’re bored are to create playlist for you, your friends, and loved ones which you can categorize by genre, mood, or for specific events. Surely those playlists will be appreciated by your friends or yourself, especially if they have some awesome tunes. You can also get your creative side flowing, even though you might not be a great artist, by inviting friends over to do arts and crafts. For those who are into reading you can tap into your creative mind and write short stories of different genres. There could be plenty of fascinating things you could be doing whenever you’re bored while creating new experiences as well.
