North CM Allen Parkway road is still under construction with no end in sight. After eight months of road work, the project is still ongoing, with plans to make the road bigger and pedestrian friendly.
However, construction has made the roads unsafe for pedestrians and bikers because there is no working crosswalk according to Greg Schwarz, the Senior Engineer of Capital Improvements.
“The city decided to install and update the storm drainage system because it was not meeting standards and there was some other utilities like a sanitary sewer that need to be updated,” Schwarz said .
Schwarz also said that because of the extensive work being done to the parkway the project could take up to 12 months.
Construction isn’t set to end until late summer of 2019, but Schwarz said one roadway hopes to be open by mid-May.
