Ever wish you could go back in time and relive October as a kid? I’m not going to lie, I do. No responsibilities and pillowcases filled deep with candy is how most of our Halloween seasons went. I can’t offer that to you, but I can show you some ways to keep this time of year festive and fun.
First things first, you need to decorate! By decorate, I don’t mean full blown out Halloween decorations. I mean get a few pumpkins and a couple Halloween trinkets for around your house. Some cheap places to get decor like this if you are on a budget is at Target, Walmart and Five Below. Trust me you won’t regret these purchases.
Another thing that will make you feel more festive this fall is to bake cookies or a pie. I personally would make the iconic Halloween cookies from Pillsbury, but I know a lot of people who prefer a piece of homemade pumpkin pie. You could also get pre-made ones from your local HEB or Walmart if you are too busy this October.
Next thing you need to do is treat yourself – fall edition. By this, I mean using a few funds from and spending it on fall scented candles, fall clothes or a get yourself a fall coffee. You can find amazing fall smelling scents for a cheap price from Bath and Body Works, and a fall drink from Starbucks (like their well known pumpkin spice latte). I know this might sound cheesy, but taking yourself out on a fall date is the perfect way to start your fall.
Another thing you can do to spice up you October is to do festive things with your friends. One thing I recommend you do while the weather is nice this fall is to have a fall themed photoshoot. Pick out some spots with your friends and take pictures! Some ideas are a corn maize, a pumpkin patch or even under a color-changing tree on campus.
The next fall themed thing you could do with your friends is have a spooky movie marathon. This will definitely put all of y’all in the fall mood, and it might even make you feel like a kid again.
The last fall thing to do with your friends (that is a must) is going to a haunted house! There is the 13th Floor in San Antonio or small local ones around San Marcos.
The last couple things are a must do if you have a little extra money coming into your life this October. Get Target’s iconic Halloween socks!
Another thing is trying out different makeup for potential Halloween costumes. The last thing you’ll need to do this spooky season is dress up for Halloween! Whether you stay in or go out to a Halloween party, I hope these tips will make your fall season more enjoyable!
